Section II examines institutional and organizational program elements and provides guidelines for developing these programs to reduce liability and risk while lowering point-source pollution and total hazardous waste production.

The logistics approach to hazardous materials yields exponential benefits in costs and the reduction or elimination of such materials. About the Author
Stewart C. Myers is the Gordon Y Billard Professor of Finance at MIT’s Sloan School of Management. He is past president of the American Finance Association and a research associate of the National Bureau of Economic Research. His research has focused on financing decisions, valuation methods, the cost of capital, and financial aspects of government regulation of business. Dr. Myers is a director of The Brattle Group, Inc., and is active as a financial consultant. He is also the author (with Professor Brealey) of this book’s sister text, Principles of Corporate Finance.

Richard A. Brealey is a Professor of Finance at the London Business School. He is the former president of the European Finance Association and a former director of the American Finance Association. He is a fellow of the British Academy and has served as a special adviser to the Governor of the Bank of England and as director of a number of financial institutions. Professor Brealey is also the author (with Professor Myers) of this book’s sister text, Principles of Corporate Finance.

Professor of Finance and Economics, Imperial College London, and Nippon Life Professor of Finance at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He is past president of the American Finance Association, Western Finance Association, Society for Financial Studies, Financial Intermediation Research Society, and Financial Management Association. His research has focused on financial innovation, asset price bubbles, comparing financial systems, and financial crises. He is executive director of the Brevan Howard Centre for Financial Analysis at Imperial College Business School.

About the Author

William J. Chambliss, professor of sociology at The George Washington University, was a critical sociological theorist whose research has ranged broadly from studies of law creation and the legal system to participant observation studies of juvenile gangs, organized crime, policing, and the impact of social movements on political and economic change. He served as president of the American Society of Criminology and the Society for the Study of Social Problems. He has received numerous awards for his research and teaching, including the prestigious Edwin H. Sutherland Award from the American Society of Criminology, the Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Sociological Association, the Bruce Smith Lifetime Achievement Award from the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences, the PASS Award from the National Council on Crime and Delinquency, and the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Sociology of Law Section of the American Sociological Association. He has authored and edited over 35 books in sociology, criminology and criminal justice and numerous articles in social science journals.

Daina S. Eglitis is an associate professor of sociology and international affairs and director of the undergraduate program in the Department of Sociology at The George Washington University. Her research highlights sociological dimensions of change in the post-communist world, with a particular focus on stratification, poverty, and gender. She has been the recipient of Fulbright, IREX, and Open Society awards and is the author of several articles and a book on post-communist social change. She also writes for and about teaching in the undergraduate classroom and is the author of the article, “The Uses of Global Poverty: How Inequality Benefits the West,” and the Teaching Sociology article, “Performing Theory: Dramatic Learning in the Theory Classroom.”

Every one who has earnestly tried to succeed and who has failed has thought out what he wanted to do and how to do it. Such failures have been caused by lack of idealizing the process.
The process itself must be idealized as well as the result one wishes to attain. It is such an idealized process which makes success certain"

"Many a person is a failure because he does not know how to use the three means of communication effectively in persuading and convincing others to accept his word and render him just compensation.

Tones are more important than words.

No young man can succeed in convincing a girl that he loves her by sitting across the room, twenty feet from her, and shouting "I love you!" in the high pitched tones of a campaign orator.

Many a person fails to secure a raise in salary, because at the time he is requesting a raise by use of words his tones and actions tell his employer that the applicant is afraid he will not receive the raise requested.

You have heard one woman you know the kind compliment another. Her words are complimentary. But, one little spiteful inflection of her tone tells you that the compliment is insincere. The woman may talk for ten minutes (600 seconds) and the spiteful inflection of her tone may last but one second. Yet, you believe the one unit of tone, and discredit the 600 units of words!

Action is more effective than words and tones.

Also, a man may compliment you for ten minutes in pleasing words, spoken in most agreeable tones. But, one tiny sneer of the upper lip will belie all the complimentary ideas expressed by his words and all the agreeable feelings aroused by his pleasing tones. The little sneer is action. It may last but one second. Yet, action is so much more effective than words and tones, that you discredit the 600 units of words and the 600 units of tone, and depend upon the one unit of action.

Is it any wonder that so many people fail when they try mainly by means of words to communicate that which they wish to com-municate to others

Remember that leadership is one of the factors which determines success. It is one of the factors which guarantee it.

Remember also that your success depends upon dealing effectively with other people.

In doing so, you can use but three means words, tones, and actions. If you have been attempting to succeed by a major use of words, you have failed again and again for words are less effective than tones, and tones are less effective than action.

Use words to express your ideas.
Use tones to express your feeling.
Use only action to express motives.
Then you will not be misunderstood.
And you will be understood."

Catherine - first Bestseller by Juliette Benzoni

I had read this book in my teenage time and fell in love with Catherine Legoix and her story right after a few pages.There are so many unforgettable characters whom I just adored. The story of Catherine and her love for the dashing Knight Arnaud de Montsalvy was Juliette Benzoni's very first bestseller. Juliette Benzoni was from then on my most favourite all-time author. ( I like to mention that she wrote until she passed away a few months ago over 86 very successful books !)
I belong to those readers who had to wait until each of the seven books was translated into English - my French at that time was not up to reading a whole book ! I could now go on and tell about the story - but I would like to mention here another matter! The Catherine books were published in Great Brittain and the USA in the sixties - and then never again. The seventh book in the series "La Dame de Montsalvy" never until this day translated into English ! Just leaving readers in the suspense for over 36 years if Catherine de Montsalvy was now a widow and had to bring up her children alone...
In 2015 to the great joy of the faithful Catherine readers the English publisher "Telos Publishing" started with reissuing the Catherine books after more than 40 years ! What propably no one knew, the English books did not have the complete text of the original French editions - a fact which was not even known to the author herself until I pointed it out to her a few years ago ! In BELLE CATHERINE there are 11 missing pages... I like to give my sincere thanks to Telos Publishing for the beautiful job they have done 1. for bringing back the Catherine books 2. for going to add all the missing text 3. for the beautiful Art Design and Cover design. Bravo Telos Publishing for your letting us dream again about Catherine and Arnaud. We all cannot wait to read the next books to come out...

Storm Dunlop is an experienced writer on meteorology and astronomy. He is a Fellow of both the Royal Astronomical Society and the Royal Meteorological Society, and the photographic editor of the journal, Weather. He is also past president of the British Astronomical Association and has given many lectures and talks on all aspects of meteorology and astronomy.

A must read for analog photographers

I borrowed this book from the kindle library and loved it. I will probably re read it many times. It has simple techniques that make a lot of sense and I'm a much more confident photographer. I will be purchasing this book and probably his second book about developing film. This is a truly no nonsense approach to photography.

Good, if you don't mind text only

I think this was a decent book to look into 35mm film photography. The info was good, but I think it would have benefited from actual photos to demonstrate the concepts. The author says he specifically didn't want to put photos in, but....it's a photography book which targets visual people. Also, what better way to validate the skill of the author than to have his own work displayed.

IF YOU DONT SHOOT FILM AND IF YOU DONT SHOOT BLACK AND WHITE; YOU HAVE VERY LITTLE CLUE OF WHAT THE ART OF PHOTOGRAPHY IS. GIVE IT A TRY AND START WITH THIS HELPFUL BOOK. IF YOU DONT ENJOY IT YOU CAN ALWAYS GO BACK TO YOUR VIDEO GAMES.
