Brought to you by Cosmo? This book is more about travel from city to city with a four star motel meets Lonly Planet... Should not be in the backpacking section. All of the sources are limited to the UK.

Like a travel show in library binding.

I very much enjoyed this book.

It is very adventurous and you can't help but fantasize about traveling yourself when you're reading it.

It's somewhat geared toward women as both of the authors are women, but as a girl I liked that.

It tells you how pick out a proper sleeping bag, pad, backpack, and almost any other gear you may need, with lots of check lists and wonderful little travelogues from fellow travelers in between chapters.

While perhaps they are a little too concerned about thieves, It is a very fun and enjoyable read.

If you enjoy planning and traveling in your imagination before you actually start out on your adventure, then I highly recommend this book for you!

A gimlet eye view of Wall Street

Going Public is fIlled with humorous anecdotes that will have you roaring with laughter, but it contains sharp commentary on what it was like for a woman to get ahead in the financial center of the world. The author's journey from power lunches to power poses will inspire you to evaluate your own path. Going Public is a personal story and makes no demands of the reader, however for those looking for an alternative to "leaning in", my take-a-way from reading it was that sometimes you need to "move on".

Wall Street has never been so entertaining!!

This is the story of a small town girl with big dreams who, against the odds, worked her way up to join the boys on Wall Street. The journey was not without its trials and tribulations -- even discrimination -- but that is what makes this story worth telling, and Melissa Canter does so beautifully, taking on real life issues with an irrepressible good sense of humor. But at its core, this is a story about perseverance. As Natasha discovers some ugly truths about the world around her, she also discovers some truths about herself. She realizes that having courage is not only about going after what you want and fighting for what you believe in, but being able to admit when something's not worth fighting for and starting over. You'll be frustrated, you'll laugh, and you may even cry, so buckle up, because this is one journey worth taking!

Old Guys rule!

Arthur Bryant and John May are two octogeniarians who still solve crimes for the Home office despite much dismay from that said office. The two detectives use unconconventional and slightly illegal methods in their attempts to bring the perps to justice, however, their clear-up rate is phenonimally good as compared to the Met and this state of affairs does not sit well with the Home office who has been trying, unsuccessfully, to close down the Peculiar Crimes Unit since the end of the second world war.
In this particular episode May and Bryant are stuck, along with sundry other vehicles in a snow drift while they were on their way to a spiritualist convention. Meanwhile, back at the unit, their pathologist has been found dead in his lab under suspicious circumstances. And the team has to solve the death without the help of Bryant and May, or rather, only with the help of arcane hints sent from Arthur's cell phone. At the same time, there is someone murdering the occupants of various cars that are stuck in the same drift as Bryant and May. A very pithy puzzle to solve within an insanely short period of time and with the Home Office eagarly waiting for them to fail.
The dialogue is witty and makes for a very entertaining read.

Definitive British Mystery

If Ken Bruen's east London crime novels featuring the brutal and boorish Inspector Brant are literature as rugby, then Christopher Fowler's mysteries of the aging Brant and May detective duo are symphonies. Both entertaining, but Bruen is jarring and violent where Fowler is refined, cultured, and subtle. Fowler writes the classic British mystery: dryly humorous, understated, unadorned, and intelligent. In this outing, inspectors Arthur Brant and John May, the irascible and unorthodox heads of London's Peculiar Crimes Division, find themselves stranded in a freak blizzard on the moors of southern England, leaving Sergeant Janice Longbright in charge to solve the ultimate "murder in the inside-locked room" mystery of the team's chief forensic scientist. Meanwhile, a serial killer is on the loose in the snowdrifts, keeping our discerning duo occupied between cell phone-assist calls to Longbright and her short-handed crew. But despite facing simultaneous murder investigations and answering some nagging questions about the apparent drug overdose death of a young woman whose body occupies the morgue, the real terror facing the PCU team is the looming stationhouse tour of an insufferable princess and PCU nemesis Oskar Kasavian, the London PD bureaucrat bent on shutting the renegade crime-solving unit down.

Rich in allegory and clever forensics, contemporary crime fiction's most eccentric inspectors plough through deliciously convoluted threads of seemingly unrelated mysteries, taking a few keenly twisted turns before arriving at a clever and, at least for me, a totally unexpected climax. Brilliant character development and sharp, witty, dialogue add up for one of the year's most engaging and enjoyable crime novels. If you haven't met Brant and May yet, this is as good a place as any to start - and chances are you'll not remain a stranger.

A Unique Hodgepodge

This is a highly unusual murder mystery. There are two murder cases here, and two elderly eccentric detectives to solve them.

What is unique here is the style, the pastiche and the wit of the writing. I've never quite read anything like it. Sort of an Ian Fleming in reverse. Not sophisticated. Not urbane in the sense that the paranormal is considered to be "bunk." We've got witches running around with detectives. And they actually seem to belong together.

So with all this flair, there is hardly a dull moment. The chapters are also short, which keeps the plots running at a fast pace. One can almost read this book as theatrical entertainment.

The two mysteries conclude very surprisingly. I personally didn't come close to guessing the resolution of either. In one a coroner is found dead in a locked room. In the other an abused child, now a grown man, tries to win the questionable hand of an elusive woman. Interspersed are massive snowstorms, seedy street scenes and a crew of professionals, many of whom have self doubts as to their actual abilities.

Unlike the books of Stuart M. Kaminsky, don't expect in-depth character depiction. Though one gets a kick out of the two elderly detectives, all of the cast of characters remain just on the edge of three dimensionality. But they don't get there.

Yet for a rip roaring good time, and an easy read of a very unusual work, this is the book.

Priceless Resource

For $17.99 I just made off with an inexpensive but PRICELESS education on writing. I have taken several helpful online courses for every area: character building, plotting, writing, editing, libel, publishing via a traditional publisher or self-publishing, cover creation, and how to market my book and most importantly build my author's platform. Holy Toledo. This is a step by step guidebook (I think of it as my writer's bible now) that has helped me not only revisit a book I wrote several years ago to rewrite it for new adults, but quite honestly, has helped me with a book that has nothing to do with new adults, as well. Deborah's writing is seamless and so easy to follow -- almost as if she is sitting across the table from the reader and providing mentorship. And her exercises are new and fun, and not the usual exercises I've run into at various conferences, or in classes. I'm not going anywhere, or writing another book, without Deborah Halverson's Writing New Adult Fiction sitting next to my keyboard. Happy reading and writing!

�Por que espere tanto tiempo para leer Tan Cerca? Estuvo en mi estanteria por meses hasta que un dia estaba sin electricidad y tome un libro al azar para pasar el tiempo leyendo.

Wow, si me encanto Across The Universe, adore Tan Cerca. Comienza en el medio del meollo, la gente se esta volviendo loca en la nave, revolucion, mentiras, asesinatos; y Amy y Elder tratando de descubrir que es lo que esta mal con Godspeed.

�Desesperacion! Ese es el sentimiento de este libro. Me daban ganas de golpear a muchos de los personajes a veces, incluso a Elder. Amy parecia ser la unica persona logica, pero claro ella es la extra�a de la tierra...

Lo que me parece increible de este libro es que pienso que la gente actuaria exactamente igual en una situacion asi o parecida. La gente le gusta empeorar las cosas por miedo, en vez de tratar de buscar una solucion. Nadie parecia estar tratando de buscar la manera de llegar a algun lado, excepto Amy y Elder. Me gusto que trabajen bien juntos y descubran tantos secretos de la nave.

Si buscan una serie interesante y original, les recomiendo Across the Universe. Y si te gusto el primer libro, Despierta, no esperes mas para leer Tan Cerca. Te dejara con los nervios de punta y con ganas de leer lo mas pronto posible el tercer y ultimo libro de la saga, Dos Soles.

Not very funny at all. The stories are too long and spesifics, and the fill in words too general. This makes it almost impossible to make a story that makes any sense at all. There should be better clues for the fill in words other than just "adjective" or "verb". A few spesifics on choosing the word or a list of words (suggestions) to choose from for a specific fill in word type would make it much more enjoyable. So if you think your going to have a quick funny custom story like on the back if a kids menu at Applebee's, keep looking.

If you're content with the status que of religious legalism and you're not truly serious about entering into His presence, do not buy this book. This book is for those who are seeking a breakthrough into the Glory realm, who sincerely want to see God have His way among HIS people!

Eternity Invading Time

One of the best books I have ever read. Renny speaks from experience from Heaven that can't be denied. He makes it clear how fragile time is, and that the same laws governing time also govern space and matter, and are all equally conquerable with eternity, which is now, and miracles. The best part is that we were made to rule over time, making the impossible possible.

The book is very good. It highlights the changes that the Church need to make during these endtimes. The author gives a very good description of how to walk in the Glory of God, how to renew our thinking. How to exercize authority over time.
